It's about time....

Okay so I've been a bad blogger and haven't posted in a while, so I will try to keep this short and sweet but also let you know all the cool stuff I've been up too.

So first off we are well into Spring and for me that means garage sales!!!! They are such an addiction it's not even funny.  You can find old new and everything in between and I have been making out quite well as of late, look for future projects featuring some of my finds.  I've also been able to go the auctions, which is becoming another obession (I love the thrill of bidding and winning... favorite win so far is my Vargas pin-up print...LOVE it), luckily for our wallets Kev isn't off every Wednesday so it's a once in a while treat for us.

I'm also working on several projects at once and I am very excited about them!!!!  I am trying to get back in the swing of sewing (making purses), I've been sewing since 3rd grade but have really put it on the back burner since I've had kids and that needs to change... now to convince the kids, lol.  I've also been hand sculpting faces/heads for a fairy tale line that will be coming out soon to our on line shops.  Today I used a new product so I can make "multiples" of the faces, it's called Amazing Mold Putty, and it works like a charm and is sooo easy to use, definitely recommend it .  I got so into it that I also made molds of things from nature that I will be using in new jewelry items.  I also bought several t-shirts today to finally start screen printing and I am oober excited about it!!!

Seeing now that you probably think I have creative ADD and I sometimes think I do too.  I let you go from my ramblings, but check back in soon I will be posting the stages of the heads and taking recommendations as to what fairytale creatures you would like seen turned into art.

As always thanks for reading and feel free to comment!

Okay so Spring is here even though it does not feel like it today, around this time of year I am always changing things around (mostly to make room for garage sale finds... shhh the hubby hasn't caught on to it yet) and I start itching to paint.  Seeing I can't paint the walls of the house I am currently eying up the kids' armoire and the spare dresser in the basement what color do you ask, why lime of course! With that said here are my finds for the week when searching out EtsyNJ and lime....

I always feel bad for the birds when they migrate back North and they have a day or two of nice weather to spruce up their nests and rummage for food then it rains for a few days.  So this week I searched out EtsyNJ and feathers....

Ok I will admit it at times I have the mentality of a 13 year-old boy, especially when it comes to comics even though I don't have a collection... I love the plots, drawings, colors, characters, but mostly the sounds (BOOM, BAM, POW, BANG). So I got very excited the other day when I found out Ironman 2 is coming out this year, although I'm still waiting for the next Batman (my all time fav).  I checked out what EtsyNJ had to offer and found these amazing items...

Ok, so I know for the team Tuesday we are suppose to pick one person to showcase but I rather share the love and pick  theme and show multiple artists.

Today I am soooo in the Spring mood, honestly can't wait to start gardening but I do want to wait till we are frost free.  So to get in my flower fix I searched Etsy with the terms etsynj and flower, and oh my!  There are so many beautiful items available I could do 20 showcases but for today I will limit myself to 5 items... so here it goes!

Team Tuesday Blog Hop

Welcome to the EtsyNJ Team Tuesday blog hop! This is our second edition and hopefully we have all the kinks worked out. Here's how it works - write a feature about any EtsyNJ team member on your blog (as long or as short as you'd like it to be) and then add the blog hop code at the end of this post and check out all of the other great features - get to know the EtsyNJ street team!!

Today I'm starting to feel in the Spring mode, even though there is still snow on the ground, but warmer temperatures predicted for this weekend have me feeling hopeful.  I can't wait for all the green to start sprouting and the Spring holidays to begin, the first being my favorite (for the Spring, Halloween trumps all in my book) St. Patrick's Day.... Shamrocks, Green Beer, and Soda bread, Hooray!!!

I pulled together a small collection of Irish items that were made by the EtsyNJ team.

blowing off the cobwebs

It has been quite a while since my last blog post, and many things have happened between then and now so I apologize if this is a long post.
A couple days after my last blog post in December my Uncle Tom (my mother's brother and my god father) past away from bladder cancer at the age of 47 which is still a very hard pill to swallow.

Christmas came and went, my uncle's wake, and then is was New Year's. January was a bleak month and this weather has not helped the situation at all. The little ones have enjoyed the weather though.

My creative juices really haven't started flowing until recently.
Every year we celebrate Chinese New Year with my Aunt Maureen and Uncle Paul, who makes the best food you will ever taste.  I always try to make them something special for the holiday as a thank you and let them know I am proud of my "Chinese" heritage (when I was little I used to tell people I was part Chinese, my cousins are so why am I not?.... hey I was little).  This year I made them an ancient Chinese fairy door (my aunt loves doors, when she goes on vacation that is mostly the pictures she brings back), I fell in love with them after stumbling upon this website.  My uncle and aunt were happy about the door.

I also took a class on February 12th with Kecia of Lemocholy Studio, she is an amazing teacher and artist.  I really suggest taking a class with her if you ever get a chance.  I ended up making a beautiful necklace, from broken jewelry and non-jewelry items, which I can't wait for flea market season to start up to find goodies to make more.
Last week I started to get in the spring holiday spirit and made St. Patrick's Day and Easter goodies.  The Easter ones look good enough to eat but are completely non-edible.

They are all listed for sale in our Etsy and Artfire shops, and more can always be made....

Once again we had snow, big surprise... so Eoghan and I ended up making a Mega Block mini-zoo yesterday...

I think this wraps it up for the most part but stay tuned in for new creations that are turning out awesome... a little teaser.... Alice in Wonderland.... I'm very excited!!!
